The weekly people column in Editor & Publisher — the trade’s running list of who moved where — carried the news of my move from The Arizona Republic‘s newsroom technology job to the corporate side at Central Newspapers Inc.

HOWARD I. FINBERG, information technology director at the Arizona Republic, Phoenix, has been appointed to the new position of Central Newspapers Inc. director of technology and information strategies

Note the phrase “the new position” — the job didn’t exist until it did. My replacement in Phoenix came from the company’s Indiana properties.
